The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) is a civilian staffed operational center, providing real-time support to patrol daily. Professional analysts utilize state-of-the-art technology, to include the Fusus situational awareness platform, Peregrine, FirstTwo, Drone as a First Responder (DFR), mobile and fixed ALPR cameras, citywide security cameras, and police records systems, to provide officers with intelligence and real-time information as they respond to active calls for service.
Fusus is a map-based interface that combines private and public video streams into a single view, enabling greater situational awareness and a common operating picture. Video streams from fixed and mobile sources are all seamlessly combined into a single platform. Fusus also integrates active calls-for-service, officer body-worn cameras, drone cameras, and other geospatial data.
Peregrine centralizes data of any type or scale from a variety of sources and provides VBPD personnel the ability to seamlessly interact with real-time information. The Peregrine platform enhances investigations, operational strategies, and data analytics by eliminating manual processes within an easy-to-use application. VBPD utilizes this solution across the entire department in various different roles due to the ability to customize the user experience.
VBPD partners with Skydio to utilize drone technology to support officers in the field and respond to calls-for-service. The X10 drone allows VBPD to provide live aerial intelligence by remotely operating from the RTCC. The DFR program enables the ability to provide an overwatch and situational awareness for officers while responding to challenging police encounters.
VBPD utilizes a multi-pronged approach ALPR strategy to enhance public safety through crime deterrence, real-time alerts, and investigative data. ALPR technology allows VBPD to respond efficiently and effectively to assist with locating vehicles associated with crime, criminal suspects, or missing persons. Additionally, the RTCC utilizes ALPR technology to manage alerts and communicate information to officers in the field.
Draft One by Axon is a tool designed to enhance police report writing through the officer’s body worn camera and reduces the administrative time dedicated to report production. Additionally, real-time translation is accessible to officers to bridge language barriers when a human translator is not available.
